ACHIEVEMENTS

In cynological circles, the term “achievements” is most often associated with show and breeding results. I write about show achievements below, while breeding achievements can be found in the Litters section.

However, I consider my greatest achievement in living with this magical breed to be the bond I share with my hounds. It brings me great joy to see that my pack lives in harmony and mutual respect. All of my dogs live with me in the house, and each one respects the space of the others, allowing us to enjoy one another’s presence every day. The friendly temperaments of my Deerhounds also allow us to enjoy relaxed, off-leash walks with other dogs, during which each of them can fulfil their need for free movement, exploration, and social interaction. This directly contributes to their overall well-being, and in turn to my own immense pleasure and satisfaction in living with them: something I wish for every current and future Deerhound owner. 😊

OUR SHOW SUCCESSES

Winner of the Deerhound Annual Show 2025

04.10.2025

ELTON Pinehurst

Class: Champions
Grade: Excellent
Judge: Alison Morton (UK)
Handling: myself (in the BOB comparison Elton was handled by Artur Litwa)

The German Deerhound Annual Show (Deerhound Jahresausstellung), often referred to as the German celebration of the breed, took place this year in Welzheim near Stuttgart. This was our second time attending this special event, the previous one was held in Cologne in 2024. Elton first won the Champions Class, then received the title of Best Adult Dog and became Deerhound JAS Winner 2025, and finally, in comparison with his own daughter, he was awarded BOS. He returned home with the challenge trophy, on which his achievement from this show will be engraved. I am especially pleased that Elton became the winner of a specialty show in the country he comes from.

Junior Winner of the Deerhound Annual Show 2025

04.10.2025

LADY NESS Scottish Arrows

Class: Junior
Grade: Excellent
Judge: Alison Morton (UK)

This was an exceptionally successful German ring debut for Nessie. She first won the Junior Bitches class in a strong entry of five, then went on to win Best Junior, Best Bitch, Best of Breed (BOB), and finally Best in Show in the final competition. I am very proud of Nessie that her achievements will be recorded in the history of the Deerhound breed in Germany, her results will be engraved on two challenge trophies: BOB Junior and BOB.

Pompadour Sighthound Specialty Show 2025

27.09.2025

LADY NESS Scottish Arrows

Class: Junior
Grade: Excellent, Best Junior of Breed
Judge: Alison Morton (UK)

I will remember the French Pompadour Sighthound Show as an exceptionally elegant, well-organised event set in a beautiful location—within the grounds of a castle park and the Arnac racecourse. I was especially pleased with the opinion of breed specialist judge Olaf Knauber, who liked Nessie enough to award her 1st place out of 3 and subsequently the title of Best Junior of Breed. In Nessie’s critique, the judge included a sentence that best reflects her condition on the day:
“At the age of 11 months, she’s already of champion quality.”
This description means a great deal to me as a novice breeder, as Nessie is the first female bred by me whom I have kept for breeding and with whom I place my hopes for the next generation of Scottish Arrows.

Junior World Winner 2025

08.08.2025

LADY NESS Scottish Arrows

Class: Junior
Grade: Excellent
Judge: Bo Skalin (SE)

For Nessie, participation in WDS 2025 was only her second appearance in the Junior class—just two weeks earlier she had successfully debuted in this class in Sweden. At not yet 10 months of age, Nessie proved in Helsinki that her successful debut was fully deserved. At the World Dog Show, she not only won the Junior class and the title of Best Junior, but then defeated adult, titled competitors in the comparison for Best Bitch, and finally competed for Best of Breed against her own father (!) and was awarded Best of Opposite Sex (BOS).

World Winner 2025

08.08.2025

ELTON Pinehurst

Class: Champions
Grade: Excellent
Judge: Bo Skalin (SE)
Handling: myself (in the BOB comparison Elton was handled by a close breeder friend from Sweden, Inger Johanne-Løvik)

The World Dog Show in Helsinki was an unforgettable experience for me. I attended with Elton and his daughter Nessie, who was just under 10 months old at the time. Elton’s conformation and temperament appealed to the judge so much that he was first placed 1st in the Champions Class (out of four), then awarded Best Dog, and finally Best of Breed (BOB). At the same time, by obtaining the CACIB, Elton also earned the title of Finnish Champion.

Skokloster Summer Show 2025 – Sighthound Specialty (Sweden)

25.07.2025

LADY NESS Scottish Arrows

Class: Junior
Grade: Excellent, Best Junior Female, Best Bitch 5
Judge: Hector Heathcote (UK)

This was an exceptionally successful debut for Nessie in the Junior class made even more special by the fact that it took place at a prestigious club specialty show, with a strong entry, and under a specialist judge who has been breeding Deerhounds for over 40 years.
Nessie first won the Junior Bitches class, defeating six competitors. She received a very positive critique and was awarded an HP (Prize of Honour) nomination for the Best Bitch competition. A total of 13 bitches from various classes were nominated for this final. Nessie placed 5th, which is a particularly noteworthy achievement, as at just 9 months of age she outperformed titled adult competitors from higher classes.
The show itself was a fascinating experience for me. Seeing 49 Deerhounds in one place, meeting Scandinavian breeders and exhibitors who are true breed enthusiasts, and exchanging experiences and insights: all of this was added value that made the trip to Skokloster truly worthwhile.

Deerhound Club Show Czech Republic 2025

31.05.2025

ELTON Pinehurst

Class: Champions
Grade: Excellent, Club Winner, BOS
Judge: Alison Morton (UK)

I attended the Czech Deerhound Club Show primarily to learn Judge Alison Morton’s opinion of my dogs. This was especially important to me, as she has successfully bred Deerhounds in Scotland for many years (Cotherstone Kennel), and I value the judgement of a true breed specialist above all else. I showed Elton in the Open Class, where he defeated his only competitor and was awarded CAC. He then went on to compete against winners from the other classes, earning the titles of Best Dog, Club Winner, and Best of Opposite Sex (BOS).
